Fall back or spring forward, I’m just one of a vast majority of British Columbians who is done with our biannual clock conga. Under ‘Premier Dad’ {RIP John Horgan}, British Columbians decided almost universally that we’d drop the swap way back in 2019. But since then we’ve demurred changing time and again while waiting, for whatever reasons, to see what our southern neighbours would do.
I’m not preaching whether we permanently adopt Daylight Savings Time or Standard Time. Just pick one. But, then, our friends in the Yukon know a thing or two about playing in the dark and they’ve been fancy and free with DST since 2020. So if it’s all the same to most of us, let’s listen to Goldfrapp on this one. You know, “When the light turns into darkness” something about right on Whitehorse?!
For Claire and me, the move to DST does mean that the only light I’m carrying on our afterschool rides is my LOL {limp out light}. We’ll have to experience one heck of a mechanical to need it, but I have broken forks, frames, and once had a wheel come apart {aluminum nipples disintegrating in a carbon rim}, so I’ll keep planning for the long walk.

That’s Claire’s full take on the subject as I prodded the pre-teen terminator awake from a distance this morning.
It‘s going to be a long day, but, liquid or otherwise, at least we have an after work/school mountain bike ride in the ‘sunshine’ to look forward to.
Then it’s home to jump into the deadlines I have for this week. The season is here! The birds are chirping. The wrenches are turning. And every shop is reminding you to book your bicycle {especially suspension} service needs before they’re {hopefully} swamped.
