MEATengines – Updated Tags & Other Housekeeping

It doesn’t happen regularly, but once the weather turns and even the hardiest folks are pulling shorter loops on their mountain bikes I tend to get a bit of correspondence about older material on MEATengines. Right back to the stuff that I wrote at the beginning. It’s neat. At the same time, with the amount of content archived now, navigating back to past material that I want to revisit or extrapolate from is getting more unwieldy.

The solution, or at least a solution, has been to go back through and add tags. For most of the tens of folks reading this site it may not add any value, but if you are interested in specific content, say single-speeding (#1FG), now there’s a quick way to narrow it down.

Tags, tags, and more tags.
Tags, tags, and more tags.

I’ve taken some liberties in assigning the categories. The most obvious example is Tunnel Talk, which now includes a number of pieces that predate the Tunnel Talk series. Many of these pieces were part of Bike Shop Stories when I was wrenching at Comor, and others are reminiscing about times before that.

Not every piece has a tag, and I’m not certain how many others I’ll add. But if folks have any suggestions for stuff they’d like to see categorized together I’m all ears. I’ve also had a few folks ask lately about commenting and that is not a feature that GoDaddy is bringing back. I’m not ruling it out in the distant future, but there’s no easy way to do it right now.

The tag Going #1FG includes the series ‘About A Single Speed‘ that I tried to get off the ground. I’m definitely eager for more submissions. Just a reminder they need to include a minimum of one photo and be in Haiku format. Hit me up!

Cheers,

Andrew
