As organizational challenges continue to be pandemic, the board of the Dumpster International Bike Show (DIBS) in North Vancouver announced on Pinkbike that they would be going virtual for the coming season.

It is true that all the latest pre-production wireless drivetrains, long-travel suspension forks, fresh high-pivot-and-idler bikes, and etc will continue to be routinely hidden-in-plain-sight, in a busy public parking lot, minutes from one of the most popular riding areas on the North Shore.  However, out of respect for provincial health ordinances, DIBS is asking riders to check it all out on the web rather than drop by in person with a case of beer and a cellphone camera. 

Unfortunately, that could mean a bit of a wait to find out which brand is going #hotformullet (*spoiler* all of them), which are ones producing new carbon MegaCarbines, what established brands have gone full Luiz Arraiz on their existing designs, and whether the AXS version of SRAM SX or Di2-wireless version of Shimano Alivio will be unavailable first. 

The good news is that – as long as the UK trend of transporting bikes inside vans and cars doesn’t catch on in the Canadian Southwest – mountain biking’s premier publication will have opportunities to continue on in the spirit of all tradeshow coverage past, devaluing current inventory by displaying the new-new.
