With September 2021 almost in the bag, a few typically raining fall North Shore rides filling up my shoes, and a seemingly overwhelming number of things going on I feel like I’ve largely gone to ground with MEATengines for the last month. The Clairebarian is back in school and at the rink, I’m still turning wrenches and answering e-mails a few days a week around her schedule, and I’ve had some very well-received material on NSMB.com and just rolled over my 380th piece for the site.
It’s certainly not for a lack of ideas or interest that content hasn’t been flowing here but merely a combination of limited time and energy. Thanks for all the motivational messages. I really enjoy that folks enjoy this space.

A lot of my mountain biking focus these days continues to be riding with Claire. She has really stepped up her riding this month with the highlights being her first trip to Squamish and riding Your Mom and her first and second ride down Asian Adonis on Seymour. I was blown away by how much of the trail she cleaned the first time and then how much more she cleaned the second.
A little more growing, and a few more parts to source, and she’ll be learning to ride a substantially bigger pair of hoops when we jump up to her next mountain bicycle, a 24″ Marin San Quentin. I’m excited to see what trails have their doors opened by the combination of a suspension fork, bigger wheels, better rubber, and her continuously improving skillset.

There are a lot more pieces in the works with more Collab’s That Should Be, and Bicycle Enquirers, and parenting stuff, and maintenance/lack of maintenance bits, and the odd rants, and a new feature I’ve been working on called Cogs In The Machine, and whatnot. I’m hoping to make it work to be back on a more regular schedule next week.
Cheers!
