About a Single Speed: James’ MK6

What is it with Stooge owners and the mini-rear-fendering? Oh, sure, there are plenty of Andy’s bikes out there that meet #TheFullVik level of anti-saturation commitment, I mean, Vik’s Speedbomb, for example. But, I’ve seen more photos of Stooge’s with the micro versions of anti-theft devices than any other rigs!? And I have a hard time imagining that they’re delivering even a fraction of the benefits in terms of anti-theft or anti-soak. I mean, I can’t stand a fully-fendered mountain bicycle aesthetic, but if I’m going to run them, and I am going to run them, I’m at least going to maximize the benefit vs. the fact my eyes bleed every time I look at my rig.

Yeah, so. Sorry, James. I didn’t mean to single out your rad MK6. From the dumpster-dived rear wheel to the perfectly offset frame and MK7 fork colours {nice rattle-can workmanship!}. From the block-of-billet BMX stem to the big front tire. From the full-frame bag to the beaten Brooks saddle. This is a heck of a bicycle. But wait, it’s been dual-27-Plus, and now it’s 29/29+, but has it ever been built as a 27+/29+ mullet?

Anyway, the best part of James’ submission is this quote – “No matter how I build this frame up, I will always dig it.” – but the second best part is showing just how easy it is to participate in About a Single Speed:

You write a Haiku

Submit it with a photo

Then, I say thank you

James on the Stooge MK6:

Parts list like seasons,

Changing, a single constant –

The struggle remains

Love the fork vs. frame colours.
