About a Single Speed: CTK’s 2016 Honzo ST Frame

Chez MEAT is plenty cozy with three humans and a few bicycles each, so I’m abusing the power of my prerogative, cutting in line, and bumping other About a Single Speed entries, all to drop a few words about CTK’s size large 2016 Honzo ST frame that I need to rehome. Preferably to a localish MEATengines reader, who is going to build it up single-speed, and submit an A.a.S.S. ATB or MTB entry about it to complete the circle.

Here’s the story in three parts:

  1. Crash Test Kevin has been riding his #1FG TransAm for almost two years now, so after years of hard service, this large 2016 Honzo ST is superfluous, sad, solitary, and seeking someone who will overlook its rubs, scratches, and a not-insignificant CTK-style dent to see the beautiful machine it could be. It’s pre-patinated and ready to be pedaled.
  2. About the said dent. It’s a beastly tank of a frame; the dent-or-dint is not at a weld, and I would happily ride it and would be very surprised if it ever became an issue. It actually wasn’t noticed until yesterday when I was cleaning the frame, so who knows how many years it’s been there. That said, if someone wanted to replace the down tube, have at it, it’s your new nifty project!
  3. This frame has only ever been a stalwart single speed and I know it would prefer to stay so and continue its #1FG streak for life. But it would stoically accept a multi-speed drivetrain, if it had to, I guess. I should probably note here that it uses 142×12 rear spacing and it’s technically a dual-29″ rig, although there’s always mullet potential. It could be a great frame swap for someone with a similar vintage sag-wagon with a fried frame.

In exchange for the DentZo, in lieu of money, CTK is just looking for the buyer to make a $200 donation to SHARE Family & Community Services in Tri-Cities. They do great work. If you’re starting from scratch I’ll dig up a couple of parts for you as well, FOC.

Mandrew on CTK’s Honzo ST:

Crash Test Kevin smashed

Endoed, wrecked, slammed, dumped, and thrashed

One speed, built to last

Kona made Honzo

An iconic hardtail

Kevin made DentZO

Grunt, growl, groan, grind, grimp,

Crash up, crash down, crash across

Honzo one speed’s not a wimp

Single speed steel dreams

A large Honzo ST frame

Waiting for new schemes

Suffering.
Suffering.
